April Newsletter

Dear Parents,

This month we will be studying our five senses. Our plan is to take a closer look (and smell, and taste ...) at the world around us as it changes from winter into spring.
The ultimate goal for this month is to improve our awareness of our environment and how our bodies perceive it, as well as gaining vocabulary to describe this environment. Thus words like salty, sour, bitter, stinky, rough, rumbly and pointy will all enter our everyday speech, and we will discover their meanings firsthand through exciting scientific experiments. It's going to be fun!

April Newsletter

Dear Parents,

This April, we will be learning about feelings. We want children to be able to express their feelings with words. We will be learning the vocabulary for common feelings like happy, sad, excited, angry, hungry, tired, etc., and we will role play different feelings.

Every Friday is "sharing day". Each student can bring something from to school to show and tell about to their friends. So, please remind your child bring something. It
can be a toy, a book, or anything else they want to show their friends.

Also, Fridays are "cooking days", so no lunch box.

Here are some of the books, songs, and language activities we will cover this month:

Books

Bark George, by Jules Feiffer

Monkey Puzzle, by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler

Clippity-Clop, by Pamela Allen

Songs

The Ants Go Marching

Alphabet Song

Can You Point Your Fingers

Language

Phonics Alphabet

Letters P, F, and N: their sounds and words which start with them

March Newsletter

Dear Parents,

This month, as we welcome several new friends to our group, we will start at the very beginning with rules and manners. There are only a few rules here, but they are very important! We want to make sure everybody understands and follows them so we can have a great year together.
As for manners, we plan to learn and practice all sorts of polite and respectful behavior. From table manners to “please” and “thank you” and other conversational etiquette, we will soon all be converted into charming young sirs and misses. You should notice the change at home, too. With role-playing, songs and an experimental foray into instructional video production, we also hope to have some fun along the way.
Enjoy your child!
