September Newsletter

Dear Parents,

This month we welcome new friends to our old classes and introduce a brand new class as well. It's an exciting month with lots of changes! For this reason, we will spend September reviewing rules and classroom courtesy. Everyone will learn the importance of respect – respecting ourselves, each other and our environment. These manners will carry us through the school year and beyond, helping us to work and learn together peacefully.

The biggest change happening this month is the introduction of Hope class, a special class for our seven-year-old students. These advanced scholars will be expected to work a little harder than their younger friends. In addition to setting a positive example of courteous behavior, Hope students will be spending more time with math skills, reading and language usage. September will be the month to measure everyone's abilities so we can set realistic goals for the rest of the school year. This way we will certainly be ready when first grade comes around. Along with basic skills testing and development, Hope class will begin studying computer science and cryptography, a topic that will put our math skills to good use and carry us through October.

At home, ask about the new friends your child is meeting as Love and Dream classes undergo a bit of shuffling around, and as new students join. Watch as these young men and women cultivate an understanding of what it is to treat others with respect. From mealtime to outings to helping out at home, there are so many opportunities to show off our newly-acquired sense of courtesy. Be sure to remember your manners, and say “thank you” to the young lady or gentleman in your house!

Enjoy your child!
