Love and Dream Class
November was a busy month with lots of celebrations! Our theme during this time was ‘Sight Words”, but what are sight words?
Well, they are words that are used many times in sentences. They are very important in reading, and since a lot of them cannot easily be sounded out, it is important that students can recognize these words on sight (that’s why we use the term “sight words”).
The students learned about the different sight words that are commonly used in sentences, and practiced reading and writing them, too!
We also learned a lot of new vocabulary words, and continued to practice our handwriting and math skills, while still learning about different Montessori jobs.
We also had fun in musical English and art class...
Reading class...
and cooking and science class!
On Friday November 9th, we had our annual garage sale. Before we started we all sat and talked for a few minutes about money, and its value. We went through a few examples and did some buying and selling role playing. Then the fun began!
All of the students brought in a lot of things that they wanted to sell, and in turn they also bought all of the toys that were on sale.
We all learned an important lesson about money, and it taught us about the concept of buying and selling, while we all had fun!
On Thursday November 22nd we celebrated American Thanksgiving. We learned about the traditions and history of the day...
Talked about what we are all thankful for, and took part in some traditional arts and crafts...
We also got to enjoy a big Thanksgiving feast during lunch.
