December Newsletter

Dear Parents,

This month we’ll be talking about the biggest holiday in the English-speaking world, Christmas! Most of our students are already excited about this wonderful day; in fact, they’ve been talking about it for at least a couple of weeks. To help get into the holiday spirit, we will be learning some Christmas songs, making crafts and maybe even baking some Christmas cookies.

You can see the results of our hard work on Thursday, December 24th when we host a Christmas Party. There will be food, drinks and a musical performance. Everyone’s invited.
In addition to our holiday theme, we will also discuss the coming season of winter – what kind of sports and activities, food and feelings we associate with it.
Enjoy your child!

PS – Please remember that our winter vacation will be from Christmas Day to New Year’s Day – that’s 12/25/2009 to 1/1/2010.

In The Haunted House

November Newsletter

November's theme is When I Grow Up. Our main focus will be on occupations. We'll discuss several popular occupations (such as Firefighter and Police Officer) and we'll learn about each student's personal dream job -- how someone with this job dresses, how they spend their day at work, what they do to benefit society and what skills they need. At the end of the month, we are going to visit a real fire station to find out firsthand what goes on there.
Beyond that, we will explore the strange and interesting world of grown-ups. After all, they dress differently, drive cars, have cellphones and of course raise kids of their own. Everyone is encouraged to use their imagination in thinking about just what it must be like to be one of these unusual people. At home, talk to your child about your own job and your family members' jobs, as well as everyday tasks like shopping and paying bills that may seem boring to you. Your kid might just be fascinated.
