August 2016

We started August with a long holiday for our summer vacation, so the school was closed during the first week. I hope that everyone had lots of fun! We came back to school on August 8th.

Our theme for August was action words and physical education. We learned many useful verbs, like read, write, run, play, drink, eat, etc. We practiced reading and writing these words during handwriting time, and during circle time we tried out some new things like stretching, rolling, somersaulting and throwing.

We even did some martial arts classes with Miss Maura!

On one of the hot days in August, we had a special art class with our teacher Miss Sunny. She brought us some ice and orange juice which we put into bags and shook up to make a yummy shaved ice treat. It was really fun and really tasty!

And during our Musical English classes with Miss Ashley this month, we got to do lots of fun songs, games and even some dress up!

We took a little field trip to see the tanks and army trucks outside city hall. The soldiers were very friendly and let us climb up on some of the tanks. We got to see inside, too!

We planned to take a trip to Haemachi Park on the 26th, but unfortunately the weather was really rainy and windy that day. So instead we went to Kids Cafe. Everyone had fun playing together with the cars, dress-up costumes, pretend store and jumping room.

We had a yummy picnic at the cafe, with lots of good food from our families!

We welcomed a new student this month, Miss Angela. She is Hans' little sister and will be joining our Dream Class.

And we had a special surprise this month- our old teacher, Miss Lisa, came back to visit us! It was so nice to see her after two years. We had a lot of fun catching up with her!
