October 2016

Hope, Love and Dream Classes

October was filled with lots of fun activities.  With the changing season it was a great time to explain how the world we see every day changes with the weather.  Since these changes are best seen in Autumn, with the changing colors of the leaves, we decided Autumn would be our theme for the month.

We started October with a trip to Haemagae Park on October 14th, as this is the best place to observe the different colors of the leaves on the trees.  Luckily, it was a beautiful, warm and sunny day, too.

We walked up the hill to see the animals.  There were birds, rabbits, deer, unfortunately the ostrich was sleeping, but we did get to see the newborn baby monkey.  It was very cute!

After we saw the animals, we continued up the hill to the park.  We got to run around, play on the climbing frame, go down the slide a few times, and take a picture on the seesaw.

All of the students from Hope, Love and Dream class worked together to collect the leaves that had fallen from the trees.  It was hard work, but we managed to collect a lot of different types of leaves with different colors.

We then had a picnic with lots of yummy food.  Afterwards, we drew pictures of the trees, leaves and the park, too.

During the rest of October students continued practicing their handwriting skills, learned about the different parts of a leaf and continued learning about different Montessori jobs.

On October 6th we celebrated Amy's birthday, and on October 31st we celebrated Charlie's birthday, too.

Happy Birthday Amy

Happy Birthday Charlie

On October 28th we all celebrated Halloween together. To start, Hope, Love and Dream classes each drew scary faces on their class pumpkins, then Miss. Stephanie, Mr. Adrian and Miss. Anna carved the faces out.

All of the students and staff were dressed in fantastic scary costumes.  We talked about our costumes, played Halloween games and visited the scary haunted house (Hope Class).... It was veeeeeery scaaaaaary!
