January and February Activities

Dear parents and loyal subscribers, we deeply apologize for the extremely late blog update.  Our January and February activities revolved around preparing for our annual End of Year Program, so we are combining those two months into one post.

All parents will receive a DVD of our End of Year Program so there will be no pictures of the ceremony posted here.

January

In January we said Happy Birthday to Eileen, who turned eight years old.

SEM students practiced their hip hop routine with their dance instructor, Miss Erika.

In January we focused on Language Arts and Math review.  To review quantity and counting, Miss Lisa and the students had a "long jump" contest.  The goal was to see how far you could jump and the length of each leap was measured using Q-tips!  The kids had a blast trying to beat their own records.  Some students even beat Miss Lisa and Miss Stephanie!  I think we have some future Olympic athletes at SEM.

SEM students also made a "body length" chart, which displayed the length of each student's body, from head to toe.  The students decided to use color pencils as a unit for length measurement.

We had a teacher visit SEM with musical instruments, which the kids thoroughly enjoyed.  Each student had a drum and learned how important percussion instruments are in maintaining tempo and rhythm.

Dream Class worked on geometric patterns with Miss Lisa.  They successfully completed pre-made patterns, and even came up with their own creative designs.

During some downtime, Love Class organized their own Bingo game:

Love Class students helped Miss Stephanie prepare a delicious soup for lunch:

February

In February we celebrated Alisha's birthday!  She turned five years old.

Mother nature was busy this month.  She decided to give Pohang more snow than it's seen in years.  Due to these circumstances, Stephanie English Montessori had to close for a couple of days.  However, when we were able to re-open our doors some students showed up and we had a little snow party!
