April 2016

We had a funny start to April thanks to April Fool's Day. All day, Miss Stephanie and Miss Maura pretended that they forgot English and only spoke Japanese - it was so funny! Miss Stephanie showed us at the end of the day that she didn't really bump her head and forget English. We were so surprised!

The weather started getting better in April so we spent more time outside learning about nature. We grew our own potatoes in cups in our classroom. It was a fun way to learn about the parts of plants and how they grow. We could see the roots, stems and new leaves growing.

   

When the potatoes got bigger we took them outside and planted them in our garden. We can't wait to watch them grow outside and maybe get to eat our homegrown potatoes this summer!

    

    

We also went to see the tulip festival here in Pohang. There were so many beautiful flowers in many different colors. We really enjoyed walking around the garden!

Our field trip in April was to a big park in Heunghae. We did a little hiking up the hill and saw a nice view of the park. We could run and play in the grass and we even did a nature scavenger hunt. We found pinecones, leaves, and spiderwebs in the park. We had a yummy picnic, too.

      

During April we learned about the Solar System. We studied all the planets in our part of the universe - we learned their names and special things about them. We also learned more about our planet Earth, and our sun and moon. It was so interesting to learn more about our place in the universe.

There were many birthdays in April. On the 9th we celebrated Andrew's 5th birthday! We all gave presents and wished him a happy birthday.

    

    

April 12th was Brian's 6th birthday, and we had a lot of fun celebrating with him.

     

And on the 29th, we had a party for Ian's 4th birthday. We exchanged presents and had some yummy cake.

   

   

March 2016

We had a great start to our new school year here at Stephanie's English Montessori. In March we welcomed a lot of new friends. At the beginning of the year, four new students joined Dream class: Theo, Ian, Aiden and Minjun. A little later in the month, two more students joined: Andy and Jio. Love class also gained one new student: Charlie. We are so happy to meet everyone and can't wait to play and learn together this year!

  

In March we started our Musical English classes again, with Miss Ashley. It's so much fun to learn with her using songs and dances!

On March 14th we celebrated White Day. We brought some tasty chocolates and shared them with our friends.

The 22nd of March was Minjun's birthday. He turned 4 years old! We had a party for him with presents and birthday cake. He showed us pictures of how much he's grown up - they were really cute!

       

  

During the month, our new students learned about the rules of our school, especially about using walking feet, an inside voice, and helping hands. We also started learning how to do Montessori Jobs, special activities that help children to develop and learn a variety of topics and skills. 

Our new students quickly learned about our daily schedule and began practicing Montessori Jobs and handwriting, and participating in Circle Time. We're so happy to see everyone settling in to life at our school.

      

     

     

Finally, on March 25th, we went on a field trip to Kids Cafe. We played together with our new friends and had a lot of fun! There were so many cool toys there, like a sandbox, a jumping room, a ball pit and even a big train that we got to ride around on. It was a great way to get to know everyone better!

      

        

We're looking forward to learning a lot and growing together during the 2016 school at SEM.
